About Dr. Koenig:
Dr. Koenig grew up in Catlin, Illinois, population 900, where his father was the town’s only physician. It was from him that Dr. Koenig learned at an early age that providing expert, thoughtful and attentive care requires developing a close relationship with each patient in order to know him well. When he opened his Manhattan practice, he brought with him that element of “small-town” care for each of his patients.
Dr. Koenig is committed to upholding the highest standards of medical care. In the constantly evolving practice of ophthalmology he maintains state of the art proficiency through the study of medical literature as well as regular attendance at professional meetings and seminars.
Dr. Koenig believes that educating and training the next generation of physicians is an important part of the practice of medicine. He devotes time each week directing the Ophthalmology Clinic and teaching residents at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary as New York Medical College Associate Professor of Ophthalmology.
Following undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Dr. Koenig received his medical training at the Illinois Medical School in Chicago, where he was awarded a degree in medicine. After a rotating internship at the Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he returned to Chicago for residency training in ophthalmology at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. In his last year of residency he was appointed Chief Resident.
